Beauty in the Basics focuses on the foundational skills of the engine company.  The primary objective is for the first-due engine company to effectively and deliberately place a hoseline between the fire and searchable space. Success in this task hinges on the ability to accurately estimate the stretch, deploy the correct line, and advance it throughout the structure. In addition to hoseline advancement, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how engine company actions can influence fire behavior, including both positive and negative outcomes. The course also covers key topics such as stream selection, water mapping, air entrainment, and single-person forcible entry. This hands-on, scenario-based class is designed to reinforce the importance of foundational skills and shining light on the Beauty in the Basics of our operations.
